Dr. Helen Goodyear

Dr Helen Goodyear, MB ChB FRCP FRCPCH MD MMEd MA is a Consultant Paediatrician at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, UK and an Associate Postgraduate Dean for Health Education England working across the West Midlands. She leads on less than fulltime training, careers and professional support and is Head of the School of Paediatrics in the West Midlands. She has published widely in medical education and her special interest field of Paediatric Dermatology. Helen has been active in Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health activities recently leading on the Educational supervisors course and setting up a careers network for non-training grade paediatricians.

Helen is a past President of the Medical Women’s Federation, UK (2008-2010), being the honorary secretary prior to this role. She was MWIA Northern European Vice President 2013-6 and has been Chair of the Ethics and Resolutions Committee and a member of the Scientific committee since 2013. She is chairing the MWIA centennial subcommittee on publications and has been part of the editorial committee for the MWIA manual on violence.

Throughout all roles, Helen’s aim is equality for all and removal of the “glass ceiling” with roles being available to male and female alike.
