Statement to political declaration 20 years after Beijing
Final Version of the Political Declaration presented by the CSW Bureau
beliefs that the Political Declaration represents a bland reaffirmation of existing commitments that fails to match the level of ambition in the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and in fact threatens a major step backward. The statement in full length can be found here and was signed by 771 organizations including MWIA (No. 446).

Welcome South Africa to MWIA!

MWIA is proud to announce that MWA South African has launched at the 22nd of November. Association to congratulate Malala Yousafzai, a 17-year-old Muslim girl from Pakistan, and Kailash Satyarthi, a 60-year-old Hindu man from India, on jointly winning the Nobel Peace Prize for their “struggle against the
suppression of children and young people.”

Communique of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health
As a member of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, MWIA is pleased to display the communique by the Partnership after their meeting in Johannesburg around the Newborn Action Plan, which is part of the Saving Every Woman Every Child commitment.

MWIA contributes to Unicef handbook on adolescent health

Dr. Rosa Maria Nancho of the Philippine Medical Women’s Association is using cases from MWIA’s Training Manual on Adolescent Sexuality in a handbook developed by the Philippine Society of Adolescent Medicine for rural health units in Yolanda-stricken areas of the country. This handbook has been commissioned by UNICEF and deals with adolescent health including sexual health.? What has changed since then? What would you like to see?

The Executive Board of the World Health Organization met recently and confirmed that the Medical Women’s International Association is to continue in official relations with WHO.
