Region: Northern Europe (Sweden)

The high rate of COVID spreading in December 2021 and January 2022 felt like a setback as we had to go back to digital board meetings again. But a positive side effect of the pandemic is that we have learnt to communicate digitally. This makes it possible for us to see each other without leaving home. Elizabeth Lichtenstein arranged an informal digital meeting for MWIA Northern Europe in January, where we discussed the COVID situation and pandemic strategies in different countries. This is a lovely way to meet, support and learn from each other. Spring is coming up with more activities and – hopefully – opportunities to more physical meetings.

Swedish Medical Women’s Association (KLF) is preparing for the annual board meeting in March. We have changed our logotype and it is now formed by equal signs as a symbol of equality.

Most of the pandemic-related restrictions in Sweden were removed in February and we are slowly getting back to normal. But – normal might not be the most suitable word considering the awful situation in Ukraine. We are devastated following the daily news about the Russia Ukraine war, thinking of all women, children and elder people that are forced to leave their home and meet an uncertain destiny. We send our thoughts to Ukraine and hope for a peaceful future. Soon.
