MWIA has been a member of EWL (https://www.womenlobby.org/) for many years. Representatives were Dr. Waltraud Diekhaus (Germany) and Dr. Edith Schratzberger-Vecsei (Austria). Bettina Pfleiderer was their alternate. They represented the European MWIA regions in the EWL. Edith Schratzberger-Vecsei was on the EWL board for 6 years, the last 2 years as EWL President. Bettina Pfleiderer is currently MWIA´s rep at the board of the European Women´s Lobby (EWL) since June 2018. Dr. Antonella Vezzani, MWIA Vice President for Southern Europe is her alternate.

The European Women’s Lobby (EWL) brings together the women’s movement in Europe to influence the general public and European Institutions in support of women’s human rights and equality between women and men. It is the largest European umbrella network of women’s associations representing a total of more than 2000 organizations in all EU Member States and Candidate Countries, as well as 19 European-wide organizations representing the diversity of women and girls in Europe. In 2017, EWL celebrated twenty five years of EWL´s lobbying against violence with this theme: “Loud and united – to end violence against women and girls”.
