1. Korean Medical Women’s Association (KMWA) held the inauguration ceremony at the 66th regular general meeting held at the Koreana Hotel on April 30th and celebrated the inauguration of president Baik Hyun-wook (Fig. 1).

“I will increase global competency and give hope to young women doctors”

We will work together as an axis of an expert group on medical issues as well. This regular general meeting was held as the first regular general meeting of delegates in the 66 years since the founding of KMWA.

The new president Baik Hyun-wook has been participating in the affairs of the KMWA for a long time and has served as an information communication director and business director. Two years ago, she was elected as the senior vice president and the next president at the regular general meeting. Meanwhile, Baik Hyun-Wook, the new president of the KMWA, is an internal medicine specialist (graduated in 1980) from Seoul National University and has a reputation as an expert in ‘clinical nutrition and geriatric medicine’.

2. “Sex Education for Teenagers” was published as a prescription for puberty by KMWA women doctors.

Based on sex education data from research conducted by the Korean Medical Women’s Association (KMWA), the book “Sex Education for Teenagers” is organized in easy-to-understand terms even for elementary school students and published as a booklet with various illustrations (Fig. 2)

In her recommendation letter, Yoon Seok-wan, president of the 30th KMWA, said, “We did not simply focus on sex education, but explained the growth of body and mind that adolescents should achieve during puberty from an objective and medical point of view. It is expected to become an educational material.”

The publication commemoration was held together at the regular general meeting of the KMWA held at the Koreana Hotel on April 30th.

3. The first regular board meeting of the 31st Korean Medical Women’s Association (KMWA) was held at Lotte Hotel on Tuesday, May 24th.

A letter of appointment was awarded to 26 standing directors and 11 subcommittee chairs. The Articles of Incorporation Revision Committee was formed on a temporary basis. President Baik Hyun-wook pledged to “make efforts to develop the KMWA through efficient business affairs and strengthening exchanges and solidarity with the branch”.
