The Western Pacific Regional Conference 2021 of the Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA) was held virtually from August 20th to 21st, 2021. The most unique aspect of this year’s conference is that it has been prepared during the pandemic.

For two days, we proceeded with the conference under the theme of “The Role of Medical Women in the Future.” On this theme, we focused on the leadership of women in the medical field and on our missions for global health, gender equity, future healthcare, and on how to overcome the pandemic situation as medical women (Figure 1)

The ceremony for the new award “Dr. Kyung Ah Park Award” during the Plenary Session 2 on August 21st, 2021. The first winner was past Vice President of the MWIA WP region, Dr. Cissy Yu from Hong Kong.

At this conference, the ” Dr. Kyung Ah Park Award” was established to commemorate the past president of the MWIA, Prof. Kyung Ah Park, who has greatly contributed to the growth of the MWIA. The first winner was past Vice President of the MWIA WP region, Dr. Cissy Yu from Hong Kong (Figure 2).

416 registrants spread across 18 countries registered for the conference. In addition, a total of 83 abstracts were submitted from 6 countries, and 10 winners were selected for each session of the free paper VOD and E-Poster presentations.
