The executive and members of SLWMA have been trying to maintain the association post COVID 19 pandemic despite the challenges. Members of the association have continued the mentorship program with the final year medical students. The mentee and mentors were paired based on the mentee’s locality and preferred subspecialty. The third cohort of the mentorship program is expected to start later this year.
SLMWA members have continued to participate in the monthly health talk show ‘Wetin the Docta Say’ in a local radio station. Members are also volunteering at the specialized clinics for the victims of Sexual and Gender Based Violence.
Plans are currently ongoing for the constitutional review, Boys Primary School Sensitization on Sexual and Domestic Violence Programme and The Annual General Meeting in November 2022.
The Challenges that we encounter include poor attendance at meetings and low participation for SLWMA programs (mentorship and radio talk shows).
