- On Nov. 10, 2022, the Korean Medical Women’s Association (KMWA) held the “1st Young Women Doctors’ Literary Awards 2022” at Severance Hospital’s Eun-Myeong Auditorium. This Award was given to women doctors under 35 years of age and female medical students. 50 pieces were submitted and nine were selected for the awards. The gold award went to Seoeun Jung (Korea University) who wrote ‘Identity Unknown’. The silver award went to Yaeji Shin whose entry was titled ‘What would be left in my life if I were not a doctor?’Another event, the monthly academic symposium was held prior to the literary awards. Dr. Yul Hwangbo, the team leader of the artificial intelligence department of the National Cancer Center lectured on ‘The Future Content for Women Doctors’ describing ways that content for women doctors can be better communicated.
- On Dec.10, 2022, the 15th Academic Symposium for Female Health and KMWA’s year-end party was held at Schubert Hall of the President Hotel. Part 1 was themed ‘Healthy Women, Happy Seniors’ and three lectures ‘HPV vaccine, where we stand now’, ‘How to treat Herpes Zoster’ and ‘Overview of liquid biopsy’ were presented. Part 2 was the year-end party starting with a ‘united family concert’ performance by the United Foundation. The party continued with a dance performance from the KMWA dance sports society followed by a drum ‘nanta’ performance by the ‘Team Doota’ drum society. A pop dance performance by ‘Maverics’ (medical students from Yonsei University) followed. There was also a fundraising event to help the underprivileged cope better during the harsh winter. This was met with an enthusiastic response from KMWA members.
