The KMWA raised 16,000 USD for earthquake relief fund (10,000 USD) for the young girls who are victims of earthquake in the Republic of Turkiye, MWIA Emergency Fund (5,000 USD) and travelling fund for Secretary General to and from Turkey. So far, 96 individual members and 7 women doctor groups in KMWA have joined in this fundraising campaign initiated by Dr. Hyun-Wook Baik, President of KMWA.
On April 15, 2023, the Korean Medical Women’s Association (KMWA) held its 67th Annual General Assembly of Representatives at the Koreana Hotel, Seoul. The annual budget and activity plan were approved. Also, current Vice President Hong Soon Won was approved as the President-elect of the KMWA. Her term will begin in May 2024.
President Hyun-Wook Baik, in her address to the representatives, stated, “Through using new equipment in our main office, we have hosted online and offline hybrid monthly academic symposia in September and November last year. Members from all over the country as well as from abroad, including the United States, Portugal and Spain were able to participate.
On June 9, 2023, the Korean Medical Women’s Association (KMWA) held a hybrid online and offline Monthly Academic Symposium at Kangbuk Samsung Hospital. About a hundred participants including medical doctors, residents and medical students joined this hybrid symposium. Past presidents, advisors of KMWA, medical school deans, presidents of medical school alumni associations, and current executive committee members were among the participants. Many Residents, fellows and medical students were also present. Three lectures, ‘Understanding trending diets for weight loss’, ‘Treatment strategies for obese patients with cardiovascular disease and hypertension’ and ‘Medical history of the Gwangju area’ were presented.
