IML participated in the second MWIA Global Coordination Meeting (GCM) on 24th June 2023. As a follow-up, WIML registered on the World Health Organization (WHO) Knowledge Sharing Platform on Emergency Preparedness and Community Health engagement of National Associations. One of the objectives of joining the Knowledge Sharing Platform was to honour WMIL’s commitment to showcase MWIA. The Knowledge Sharing Platform is a growing community of practice that enables the co-development of sustainable solutions for communities to be better prepared for future public health emergencies.

WIML and the WHO Knowledge Sharing Platform had a virtual meeting on 18th September 2023. Discussions from that meeting will contribute to designing the WHO Strategic Framework for Community Readiness and Resilience.

An additional follow-up to the MWIA June 2023 GCM was registration for the October 2023 Global Forum for Adolescents. In early July 2023, WIML initiated official communications with the Lesotho Red Cross Society, WHO Lesotho Country Office and Vodacom Lesotho to foster local networking efforts. All three institutions acknowledged the communications, which referred to WIML membership in MWIA.

The WIML Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Coordinator, Dr. Irene Moruthane convened the second quarterly CPD session on 6th July 2023. Seventy-two (72) health professionals including doctors, nurses and pharmacists attended the virtual session entitled “Medical Leadership”. The two featured South-African based speakers made presentations focusing on leadership styles, qualities and skills required in the field of medicine.

On 19th September 2023, a “save the date” message for the first WIML Annual General Meeting (AGM) was circulated through the WIML WhatsApp group of over 200 members. The meeting will incorporate a Congress and Gala Dinner to be held on 24th and 25th November 2023.
