1) The 69th Annual General Meeting of JMWA was held on May 19, 2024 in Shiodome, Tokyo. On the evening of May 18, we enjoyed the night view and food at a social party while cruising Tokyo Bay. This year was the year of re-election of officers, and 13 female doctors, including 4 new officers, were approved as directors at the general meeting. Yoshiko Maeda was reappointed as chairman. After the general meeting, a public lecture by a tax accountant was held on “How to collect and use taxes, and financial resources for improving social security such as medical care.”

2) The 26th Block Discussion Meeting
We hold a meeting once a year to exchange ideas with female doctors from various regions. This year, the block discussion meeting was held in Kyoto on October 12th. Nine directors from the headquarters and 18 female doctors from Kyoto participated. An introduction was given on the history and activities of the Japan Medical Women’s Association, as well as the activities of female doctors in Kyoto. At the end of the meeting, a discussion was held, expanding the circle of female doctors.

3) Diversity Lecture: A lecture by Russian literature scholar Yoko Ueda entitled
“What I want to convey to Japanese people through the war between Russia and Ukraine” will be streamed online from November 23rd to 30th.

4) The 70th Annual General Meeting of JMWA will be held on 18th May 2025 in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.

5) Dr. Ota, a member of JMWA received the Seiichi Wajima Award from the National Council for the Preservation of Cultural Properties this year. Dr. Ota is a member of an organization working to preserve the Yoshinogari ruins, and has devoted herself to preservation activities, which have developed into a nationwide movement that has collected approximately 230,000 signatures.
