Report June 2025

  1. Ripples Action @ Wong Tai Sin was successfully completed on 4 Dec 2024. A total of 6 doctors and 4 medical students attended as volunteers for the event. A total of 76 pap smears and 20 psychiatric consultations were performed at the event.

  2. Shenzhen Women Doctors Association General Committee Meeting and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Women Doctors Exchange Conference was held on 7 Dec 2024. Dr Callie Ko (President of HKWDA), Dr Cissy Yu (Founding President of HKWDA), Dr Chan Kit Sheung (Past President of HKWDA), Dr Connie Ngai (Chairlady of Mainland Liaison Committee), Dr Luk Wai Sum and 4 medical students attended the conference.

  3. Our Youth Committee organized a Careers Talk “The Diversified Physician: Opportunities and Insights for Those Seeking a Change” on 9 Jan 2025. Dr. Callie Ko (President of HKWDA), Dr. Flora Tse (hair restoration) and Dr. Wendy Lam (ICU) were invited to have a casual chat with our students in the evening. Students were highly satisfied with the event and they would recommend this to their friends.

  4. STD screening service in cooperation with Caritas Youth District Outreach Social Work Team – Tuen Mun was successfully held on 11 Jan 2025. Talk on STD awareness and contraception was delivered by Dr Angela Sin and was followed by vaginal swab taking for STD screening for the participants.

  5. Dr. Callie Ko (President of HKWDA) attended HKSAR Government 2025-2026 Budget Consultation Session (Healthcare, Medical and Chinese Medicine Sector) on 24 Jan 2025. She had expressed HKWDA’s opinions including the enhancement of Flexible/Part-time training and job options for doctors working in the public sector, enhancement of PPI (Public-Private Interface) for better utilization of public resources and stream-lining the public sector administrative procedures for a more effective service delivery.

  6. HPV self-sampling service with EmpowerU was held on 23 Feb 2025. It was a breakthrough in offering HPV self-sampling in the community with secured lab service and follow-up service from Family Planning Association of Hong Kong.

  7. Health amendment forum (online and on site) organized by office of Dr. Hon David Lam was held on 25 March 2025. HKWDA, together with 7 other doctors’ associations, was one of the co-organizers. HKWDA had gathered members’ opinions and raised the relevant issues in the forum.

  8. Dr. LEE Kun Min, Mimi, Specialist in Clinical Oncology, was our guest speaker on 26 March 2025. The topic of the talk was “Essential Updates: Latest Breast Cancer Treatment and Managing Cutaneous Toxicities”.

  9. Dr. TONG Chun Yip, Peter, Specialist in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism, was our guest speaker on 29 May 2025. The topic of the talk was “Beyond Glycemic and Weight Control: Unmasking the Secrets Behind the Cardio-Renal Benefits of GLP-1 Receptor Agonists”.
