Report from Vice President for Northern Europe

Dr. Sarah Fitzgibbon MWIA Regional Vice President for Northern Europe
Dia dhaoibh – Hello from Ireland!
I was honoured and delighted to become the Vice-President for Northern Europe at the recent Triennial Congress. Unfortunately, I could not travel to Egypt for health reasons, but I was still able to participate in my first EXCO meeting and connect with our distinguished colleagues representing medical women from all over the globe.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my predecessor Dr Elizabeth Lichtenstein for her leadership, support and good humour over the past six years. I hope that I can follow in her footsteps and continue the work of connecting our national organisations in the Northern Europe region, and bring the work of MWIA to all medical women in our countries.
The MWIA Northern Europe Regional Conference will be hosted by our esteemed colleagues in Breukelen in the Netherlands on June 4-6 2026, and I am very much looking forward to meeting old friends and new there.
Before that, our Irish organization, Women in Medicine in Ireland Network (WiMIN) will be meeting for our own annual conference on March 21st in Galway, and we are delighted that many of our international colleagues will be joining us. Our conferences are always hybrid events, so we welcome online registrations from all over the world.

As we move forward into this new Triennium for MWIA NE Region, there are significant global challenges to democracy and social equity, but we hope to work together to support all women doctors to achieve their full potential, both personally and professionally.
Dr Sarah Fitzgibbon
