Dr. Emilia Solinas MWIA Regional Vice President for Southern Europe

We have been working on: (1) Gender medicine; (2) the VIPROM (Victim Protection in Medicine) project, and (3) Violence and gender inequalities in the workplace.

1) We held the second edition of the Level II Master’s degree in gender medicine. Three Master’s students defended their theses on the topic of spontaneous coronary dissection.

We are now focusing on gender differences in the field of neurodiversity.

Several conferences took place around Italy with a focus on gender differences. Many Italian hospitals have also joined ONDA’s (National Observatory on Women’s Health) national campaigns.

In November 2025, the AIDM national congress was held in Naples with high attendance, focusing on cancer and gender differences. We are currently organizing the second edition of Parma Med Gen in Apri 2026, focusing on differences in Cardiology.

2) The VIPROM project continues, with four more training courses and a second training for trainers, creating by now 18 trainers. In November several conferences on the topic of domestic violence were organised by AIDM including two in Parma where the final results of the VIPROM project were presented.

3) With the ILO (International Labour Organisation) survey on violence in the workplace we gathered 1,444 responses. We have approved a procedure called “Interventions to support well-being in the workplace”, which involves the interaction of the gender medicine and corporate well-being service which I direct, the competent doctor, the psychology unit, the corporate prevention and protection service and training.

Finally, we have approved the 2025-2027 positive action plan, the 2024 gender balance report and the gender equality plan for the three-year period 2025-2027 for both hospitals in Parma, which is a mandatory requirement for participating in the selection process for European HORIZON calls for proposals.

Thanks to a call for proposals from the Emilia Romagna region, one of our projects has been selected and funded for the development of the provincial network of single guarantee committees, which will start in January 2026.
