The FMWC sent a delegation to the Cairo Congress. Led by FMWC President, Dr. Modupe Tunde-Byass, other attendees were Drs. Ramneek Dosanjh, Reena Khurana, Beverly Johnson, Somto Ibizi, and Shelley Ross. For some of the delegates, this was their first time at a MWIA International Congress and they were duly impressed by the educational, business and social events.

FMWC has two in-person events for the upcoming CSW in New York in March. The first is on Tuesday, March 10th at 1430 hours at the Church Centre and is entitled, “Women in Medicine: Reflecting on Current Inequities in Medicine.” The second is Wednesday, March 18th at the Church Centre at 0830 hours and is entitled, “Advancing Women’s Health in the Digital Age: Ending tech-facilitated GBV and economic abuse” and is being co-sponsored by the Canadian Centre for Women’s Empowerment. There will also be a virtual event but no date has yet been determined. Please come and join us for these events.

FMWC is hosting the North American Regional Meeting in conjunction with the AGM and educational session. It will be in Edmonton, Alberta on September 18th and 19th, 2026 (Friday and Saturday) at the Westin Hotel. Registration information will follow. MWIA members from all regions are invited to attend.

FMWC’s Sexual and Reproductive Rights Committee has been working with other like-minded organizations in Canada to remove the black box warning on topical estrogens. This warning is meant for systemic estrogen, yet dissuades women from using topical estrogen to relieve vaginal menopause symptoms.

Following on the example of Senior MWIA, FMWC has created a committee known as Senior FMWC which will allow members over 65 to become even more involved in the organization. One of the topics of interest is ageism.

The Women’s Cardiac and Cerebrovascular committee is interested in the lifelong cardiovascular risk created by complications of pregnancy.

The Women’s Health Initiatives Committee has run a great campaign on the prevention of RSV in infants through awareness, education and communication.

FMWC is pleased to have Dr. Ramneek Dosanjh as the Vice President for North America on the MWIA Executive.
