The Georgian Medical Women’s Association (GMWA) participated in the 33rd International Congress and General Assembly of the Medical Women’s International Association, held in Cairo, Egypt, in October 2025. The GMWA delegation included Dr. Nina Zhvania, President of GMWA; Dr. Mariam Jashi, MWIA Secretary-General; and members of the national association: Dr. Ekaterine Sukhishvili, Dr. Maya Jghuthashvili, and Dr. Ekaterine Onikadze.
During the Congress, Dr. Nina Zhvania was awarded Honorary Membership of the Medical Women’s International Association in recognition of her outstanding service to MWIA’s mission in Georgia and the Central European region, as well as to the medical profession.

Dr. Mariam Jashi, nominated by the Georgian Medical Women’s Association, was re-elected as Secretary-General of the Medical Women’s International Association for a second term, covering the 2025–2028 triennium.

The Georgian delegation, competing with distinguished colleagues and associations from China and India, was honored to win the opportunity to host the 34th International Congress and General Assembly of the Medical Women’s International Association in Tbilisi in 2028.
The bid to host the MWIA International Congress was supported by a special video developed with invaluable support from renowned Georgian filmmaker Ramaz Bluashvili. GMWA extends special gratitude to Mr. Bluashvili for his support in this critically important endeavor and for the extraordinary video created for the Georgian Medical Women’s Association.
