Between October and December 2025, MWAG organized a number of impactful activities including community outreach, participation in the MWIA International Congress, health advocacy, welfare support, and school-based education.

Medical Outreach Programme – Korle Klottey Constituency
On 4th October MWAG, Greater Accra Region-GAR, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for the Korle Klottey Constituency and MWAG member, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, organized a medical outreach programme for residents of the Korle Klottey community in Osu.

The outreach aimed to improve access to basic healthcare services and featured general medical consultations, vital signs assessment, haemoglobin (Hb) check, fasting blood sugar (FBS) testing, ENT screening, eye screening, and pharmacy services.

The programme was delivered by a multidisciplinary healthcare team comprising approximately 15 female doctors, 2 male doctors, 10 nurses, and laboratory scientists. An estimated 600 community members benefited from the exercise. The outreach was successfully executed and achieved its objective of delivering essential healthcare services to the community.

Participation in the 33rd MWIA International Congress
MWAG participated in the 33rd International Congress of the Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA) held in Cairo, Egypt. The Ghana delegation comprised 35 MWAG members and 3 accompanying persons.

The congress featured an opening ceremony, scientific sessions delivered through panel discussions and breakout groups, a gala dinner, the General Assembly meetings, and a closing ceremony. MWAG members participated fully with three poster presentations and three oral presentations.

In addition, the Ghana delegation showcased Ghanaian culture through traditional music and dance during the Gala dinner night. The delegation was also hosted by the Ghana Embassy in Cairo, further strengthening international relations.

Breast Cancer Awareness Talk and Screening
As part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, on 22nd – 23rd October MWAG partnered with the Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Ladies Network to organize a two-day breast cancer awareness talk and screening.

The activity focused on education, early detection, and on-site clinical breast examinations. The volunteer team consisted of two lady doctors, two medical students, and one male doctor (MWAG affiliate).

Approximately 40 individuals underwent clinical breast examination, with mammograms requested for participants with clinical indications. Male staff members actively participated in the screening, with strong representation from the “Pink Boys” of SCB. All screened participants received pink ribbons as a symbol of continued advocacy. MWAG expressed its commitment to sustaining this partnership.

Welfare Visit to Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings
On 30th October a delegation of 13 MWAG members paid a welfare visit to Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings and the Rawlings family to commiserate with them following the passing of the former First Lady, H.E. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

A goodwill message was delivered on behalf of MWAG by Dr. Naa Adorkor Sodzi-Tettey, followed by signing of the book of condolence by MWAG executives. The Association donated 75 packs of bottled water to the family. The visit was conducted successfully in an atmosphere of solidarity and compassion.

Celebration of National Women Physicians Day 2025
MWAG commemorated National Women Physicians Day on 8th December to recognize the dedication, resilience and invaluable contributions of lady doctors across Ghana.
Members marked the day by wearing MWAG cloth and T-shirts and sharing posts on various social media platforms to highlight their professional identity and collective impact. As part of the celebration, Dr. Ama Edwin shared an inspiring self-care video while dressed in MWAG cloth, emphasizing the importance of self-care among lady doctors. The celebration strengthened solidarity and appreciation within the Association.

School Outreach Programme – Gender-Based Violence Prevention
On 16th December MWAG organized a school outreach programme at Holy Trinity Cathedral School under the theme “Online Safety, Offline Dignity: A Student Guide to digital GBV Prevention.” The programme formed part of MWAG’s commitment to the prevention of gender-based violence.

The outreach was attended by 7 lady doctors, 7 medical students, and 2 members of the National Health Students Association of Ghana. A total of 900 students were reached. The main presentation was delivered by Dr. Naa Adorkor Sodzi-Tettey, Past President of MWAG, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.

Students who participated actively were rewarded with educational materials including books, pens, and T-shirts. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Head Girl and a closing prayer. The outreach was highly successful.

Conclusion
Between October and December 2025, the Medical Women’s Association of Ghana successfully implemented a wide range of activities aligned with MWAG’s core objectives of service, advocacy, professional development, and international collaboration. These activities promoted women’s health advocacy among others. MWAG remains committed to sustaining these initiatives in line with women’s health.
