Foreword
It is my privilege to present the Association of Medical Women in India (AMWI) Activity Report for the period June to December 2025). The initiatives undertaken during this period reflect AMWI’s sustained commitment to holistic women’s health, academic excellence, ethical medical practice, leadership development, and advocacy.
Through coordinated national, state, and chapter-level activities, AMWI members actively contributed to education, community engagement, and policy-aligned advocacy, while strengthening alignment with MWIA’s vision and global objectives. I sincerely acknowledge the dedication of all office bearers, branch leaders, and members, and look forward to continued collaboration with MWIA.

International Recognition and Leadership Updates
AMWI records with pride the significant representation and achievements of Indian medical women at the MWIA Congress held in Cairo in October 2025, marking an important milestone in India’s engagement with MWIA and global women’s health leadership.
AMWI is honoured to note the election of Dr. Mandakini Megh, President, AMWI India, as President-Elect of MWIA, reflecting her sustained contributions and leadership at national and international levels.
AMWI also acknowledges the election of Dr. Vandana Walvekar as Vice President, Central Asia Region, MWIA, recognising her service and leadership within the organisation.
The Jhirad oration was delivered by Dr.Eleanor Nwadinobi at the Congress.
Several AMWI members received international awards, including the MWIA Triennium Award, and delivered scientific and invited presentations at the Congress, underscoring the collective academic excellence and global engagement of Indian medical women.

National Conference of Medical Women in India
Organised by: AMWI, West Bengal
Theme: Holistic Health of Women
Dates: 12–13 December 2025
Venue: Baptist Missionary Society Auditorium, Kolkata
The National Conference successfully brought together medical women from multiple specialties to deliberate on clinical, ethical, social, and technological aspects of women’s health.
The scientific programme on Day 1 covered oncology, immunology, endocrinology, environmental health, medical ethics, fetal medicine, surgery, pain management, and menopausal health.

“Pain Management to Pain Medicine” – Dr. Krishna Poddar
The conference also included the Winifred Fernandes Competitive Short Paper Session, AMWI Council Meeting, and formal inauguration.
Day 2 featured sessions on internal medicine, psychiatry, adolescent and geriatric health, infertility, gynaecological technology, third gender health, cardiology, anaesthesiology, and cancer survivorship, along with panel discussions on infertility, holistic wellbeing, and prevention of child abuse.
The conference concluded with a valedictory session reaffirming AMWI’s commitment to holistic, inclusive women’s healthcare.

The national webinar highlighted digital violence as an emerging public health and human rights concern and emphasised the role of healthcare professionals in prevention, documentation, and survivor support.

The panel discussion moderated by Dr.Purnima Satoskar along with esteemed panelists, Dr.Geeta Balsarkar, Dr.Ashwini Bhalerao, Dr.Rucha Sule, Dr.Chikhalkar and Mr. Paresh Chitnis addressed postgraduate training, preventive education, trauma-informed care, forensic documentation, and digital reporting mechanisms.
The webinar concluded with the AMWI Pledge and Call to Action, reinforcing collective responsibility and support from Dr.Rajendra Sankpal, President, Mumbai Obstetrics and Gynecology Society

Conclusion
The period from June to December 2025 reflects active national engagement, strong
branch-level programming, and meaningful international participation by AMWI. Through
academic excellence, advocacy, leadership development, and community outreach, AMWI
continues to advance women’s health in alignment with MWIA’s global mission. The
Association remains committed to sustained collaboration and impactful action in the
years ahead.
