1. The 33rd MWIA Triennial Congress in Cairo (October 2025)
A delegation led by President Prof. Susan Shur-Fen Gau successfully represented Taiwan at the 33rd MWIA Triennial Congress.
• International Leadership: Professor Chyong-Huey Lai was elected as the Vice-president of MWIA and the Regional Chair of the Western Pacific.
• Scientific Contribution: TMWA members presented five oral presentations and one poster, covering topics such as Internet addiction in youth, adult autism, and radiotherapy outcomes for thymic and gynecological cancers.
• Cultural Diplomacy: TMWA hosted a successful “Taiwan Night,” welcoming presidents and delegates from the UK, Canada, Korea, Australia, Brazil, Japan, and the Philippines. The delegation also performed traditional songs during the Congress Gala Dinner.

Cultural Visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum
TMWA delegation visited the Grand Egyptian Museum and explored Egypt’s rich historical heritage and ancient artifacts, further enhanced international friendship and cultural understanding
2. The 9th TMWA Board Meeting (December 2025)
President Prof. Susan Shur-Fen Gau, along with members of the Board and the Secretariat, gathered at the National Taiwan University (NTU) Alumni Hall. The meeting successfully reviewed the annual work plan and finalized strategic decisions.
• WHA Participation: The board resolved to send a formal delegation to the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva (May 2026). TMWA will participate under the MWIA NGO umbrella to advocate for global health equity and women’s medical leadership.
• Regional Collaboration: Following Professor Chiung-Huei Lai appointment as Regional Chair, TMWA has begun coordinating with the Australian Federation of Medical Women (AFMW) to prepare for the 2027 Western Pacific Regional Meeting.
• Membership Growth: A new strategy was approved to encourage female physicians to join as life members.

3. 2025 TMWA Annual General Meeting (December 2025)
The 2025 Annual General Meeting was held at the NTU Alumni Hall. President Prof. Susan Shur-Fen Gau gathered with distinguished senior members, the Board of Directors, and TMWA members. The meeting featured two keynote speeches by esteemed professors: Dr. Shao-Yi Cheng on her journey in teaching and research, and Dr. Jung-Ju Huang on breast reconstruction.
• Membership Update: As of December 2025, TMWA reached a total of 591 members (73 Life Members, 453 General Members, and 65 Student Members).
• Honors and Awards Highlighting Leadership in Public Policy and National Security: Several members were recognized for their 2025 achievements and influential roles in the Taiwanese government:
◦ Dr. Lian-Yu Chen, appointed as the Director General of National Health Insurance Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Taiwan. Her leadership is instrumental in steering Taiwan healthcare system.
◦ Prof. Susan Shur-Fen Gau, President of TMWA, appointed as the committee member of the Taiwan National Security Council, making history as the first physician to serve in this vital national security role.
