The Thai Medical Women’s Association (TMWA) under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen has actively undertaken professional, academic, and collaborative initiatives to advance medical knowledge, empower women physicians, and address key public health priorities at national and international levels.
A key highlight was TMWA’s participation in the 33rd MWIA Triennial Congress 2025, held on 12–14 October 2025 in Cairo, Egypt. The Association presented four bodies of work reflecting Thailand’s experience:
- Empowering Futures: A Collaborative Approach to Reduce Teenage Pregnancy in Thailand
- “Walking with Doctors”: A Community-based Health Promotion Model to Prevent Non-Communicable Diseases in Phichit Province
- Empowering Regional Health Equity: Mobile Academic Conference (2021–2025)
- Leadership Program: Empowering Medical Women in Leadership Roles.
These contributions highlighted national efforts in adolescent health, non-communicable disease prevention, health equity, and leadership development, while strengthening international collaboration.

At the national level, TMWA convened its Annual General Meeting 2025 on 5 October, featuring an honorary keynote by Dr. Khunying Pien Vejabul and a keynote lecture on “Leadership and Medical Ethics” delivered by Prof. Emeritus Dr. Prasit Watanapa. The Association also presented Outstanding Women Doctor Awards and acknowledged donors supporting scholarships for female medical students, reinforcing its commitment to professional development and capacity building.

On November 28, 2025, TMWA organized a workshop on “Artificial Intelligence and Its Applications,” reflecting its vision to integrate emerging technologies into modern medical practice.

Furthermore, on 19 December 2025, TMWA co-hosted a national academic conference with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, titled “Strengthening the Implementation of Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Resolution in Thailand.” The conference facilitated knowledge exchange and highlighted Thailand’s successful multi-sectoral approach, which has reduced adolescent pregnancy rates from over 50 to 18.6 per 1,000 in 2024, with a target of below 15 by 2027. Key strategies include sexuality education, life skills development, and improved access to contraceptive services, contributing to improved youth well-being and long-term societal outcomes.

On February 27, 2026, TMWA conducted a traveling academic conference in collaboration with Lampang Hospital on “Common Problems in the Elderly,” emphasizing continuous medical education and regional knowledge exchange.

On 27 March 2026, TMWA participated in a merit-making ceremony and laid a wreath in respectful homage to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.

Through these strategic initiatives, TMWA continues to demonstrate strong leadership in advancing medical education, strengthening the role of women physicians, and contributing to sustainable health and societal development in Thailand and beyond.
