Cameroon

In recent months we had as a major activity the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Cameroonian Association of Women Doctors (1991-2021). This celebration took place in November 2021 in the presence of the Resident Representative of the World Health Organization, the Minister for the Promotion of Women and the Family and women doctors from the different regions and sectors of Cameroon.

The inaugural conference of this thirty-year anniversary focused on “Access to Universal Health Coverage” with an opening address made by the Resident Representative of WHO. The official opening ceremony was punctuated by the speech of Madam Minister for the Promotion of Women and Family Affairs. The Minister reiterated her interest in the Cameroonian Women’s Medical Association and its leading role in the promotion of health and the defense of sexual and reproductive rights.

The celebration ended with a magnificent gala evening. Prizes of excellence were awarded to various female physicians.

In addition to these activities, CMWA continued its program to fight against HIV in key populations, in particular female sex workers. This program notably saw the introduction of pre-exposure prophylaxis (Prep) and self-testing.

In April 2022, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, CMWA was involved in the African Vaccination Week.
