1. W7 Japan 2023 Summit
    The G7 Hiroshima Summit, chaired by Japan, was held from 19th-21st May and the W7 prepared a communiqué for the G7 Summit. President Maeda became an advisor to the W7 and was instrumental in the preparation of the communiqué. There are five working groups in W7, and President Maeda belonged to Group 4, “FEMINIST FOREIGN POLICY FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND JUSTICE: Responses to Multiple Gendered Humanitarian Crises, and Women, Peace and Security.
    The W7 held six meetings between 2nd -10th March and completed the communiqué on 20th March. The W7 Summit was held in Tokyo on 16th April, and the communiqué was submitted to the minister in charge on the same day and to Prime Minister Kishida the next day.
  2. Professor Maeda appeared on FM Fuji program
    In Japan, where education on “sex, sexual diversity, and gender” is lagging behind, interest in sex education is growing. President Maeda, a urologist, appeared on FM FUJI’s program “From Bavaria with Love – For Our Sleepless Nights” on April 23rd to deepen knowledge and understanding of sexuality. She explained about sexually transmitted infections in an interview format.
  3. The 68th Annual General Meeting of the Japan Medical Women’s Association
    This Meeting was held in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture on May 21st. Prior to the Annual General Meeting, a liaison meeting was held to meet with chapter members from across Japan. Headquarters informed the members that two transgender female doctors joined in February. Branch members reported on their activities over the past year, and a meaningful exchange of ideas and opinions took place. After the general meeting, a public lecture was given by a professor of dermatology at Jichi Medical University, in which not only members but also citizens participated to learn about skin diseases.
