The Business Meeting of the Western Pacific Region of MWIA was held online on September 28, 2024.
VP WPR reported she had visited Beijing to join the 10th Annual Conference of the Chinese Medical Women’s Association (CMWA) Aug 30 ~ Sep. 1, 2024, and gave a keynote speech on Women and Health. CMWA also celebrated the launch of the BMJ (British Medical Journal) Collection of Promoting Women’s Health in China. This is a series of articles on women’s health and well-being in China, and how the priorities have changed over the years. The 33rd International MWIA Congress will be held in Cairo, Egypt Oct. 13~15, 2025.
Dr. Vivina Chiu from the Philippines, who organized the very successful Western Pacific Regional Conference of MWIA 2024 in Cebu July 11~13 has announced that the photos from the conference are now uploaded on the PMWA website (https:// pmwa.ph) and members are welcome to download these. Dr. Chiu expressed her appreciation to MWIA President and EXCO for increasing activity and visibility of MWIA in the UN, and the collaboration with the Sepsis Alliance. MWIA became more appreciated and attracted more interest in the Philippines after the Western Pacific Regional Conference in Cebu.
The Australian Federation of Medical Women (AFMW) have elected a new president, Dr Brenda Masters. The next WP Regional Conference will be held in Australia in 2027 with the Centennial Celebration of AFMW. Further updates for this meeting will be announced by AFMW when available. The Conference will be held in Melbourne.
The 2nd Dr. Kyung Ah Park Award was presented to Professor Gabrielle Casper for her long dedication to MWIA and for all her work on domestic violence and women’s health.
