The Association of Women Doctors of Côte d’Ivoire (AFMCI) was founded on July 10 2021 through the will and reflection of a team of female doctors committed to community life. In June 2025, AFMCI became affiliated with MWIA. Its mission is to contribute to the well-being of vulnerable populations, particularly women and children.
Since its declaration to the State of Côte d’Ivoire, the association has begun its activities on Ivorian territory. In the same year as its creation, the AFMCI was recognized by the Ivorian Medical Association and the Ministry of Health.
Of the 401 women registered since its creation, 71 are active and pay their dues. Over its four years of existence, AFMCI has organized an average of 11 out of 12 monthly meetings to discuss our difficulties and prospects.
AFMCI was able to acquire temporary headquarters in 2024 with a permanent secretary
To finance our activities, we received annual membership fees and support from our national and international partners. We have organized colloquia between members and guests and have participated in national and international health congresses and panels such as the 33rd MWIA Congress in Egypt
Since its creation in 2021, we have organized an average of 11 awareness and screening activities on breast, cervical and childhood cancers, on HIV/AIDS and STIs, diabetes and high blood pressure, universal health coverage, pregnancy during schooling, monthly hygiene and mental health and awareness campaigns on the fight against drug use.
