On 28th January 2026, Women in Medicine Lesotho (WIML) held its first general meeting of the year. Twenty participants attended the virtual meeting convened by the WIML President Dr. Lineo Letlala at which she introduced the current five-member Executive Committee. The highlight of the meeting was the launch of the 2026 WIML theme “Together We Lead, Together We Thrive, Together We Serve”. In alignment with the 2026 WIML theme, there are five focus areas of work:

  1. Networking Programme
  2. Continuous Professional Development
  3. Private Practice Forum
  4. Career Satisfaction Programme
  5. Career Mentorship Programme

During Cervical Cancer awareness month, in January 2026 WIML contributed to the posters shared in the MWIA NEAR WhatsApp chat group. Various other MWIA NEAR national member associations shared posters in the group throughout the month. WIML also shared a January 2026 Challenge for Cervical Cancer awareness month in the MWIA-NEAR WhatsApp Group. The WIML Challenge centred on four activities: Female health worker screening, community awareness, care of caregivers, call to action on sharing screening experiences.

For the official Lesotho World Cancer Day commemoration on 4th February 2026, WIML Secretary-General Dr. Yolisa Mashologu participated in the morning awareness walk. At the national ceremony in Maseru hosted by the Ministry of Health, WIML President Dr. Letlala provided a talk on cancer screening practices in the private health sector. Several dignitaries representing the government of Lesotho including its local and international health partner organizations graced the events of the day.

On 24th February 2026, WIML President Dr. Letlala featured as a panelist in a menstruation and menopause webinar hosted by Women Academics in Construction (WAiC). WAiC is a global, specialized network of academics supporting women and postgraduate students in built environment disciplines. The academics address industry challenges such as low representation, gender bias, and work-life balance by promoting research, mentoring, and inclusive education. Other panelists at the webinar were from Germany, Nigeria and South Africa.

In recognition of World TB Day on 24th March 2026, WIML produced and shared an awareness poster in the MWIA-NEAR WhatsApp group.
