Lovejoy/Jubilee Fellowship

Esther Pohl Lovejoy, MD
First MWIA president from 1919 – 1924
She was a trailblazing physician who devoted decades of her life to promoting global humanitarian aid and international relations among women physicians around the world. It was this latter interest that led to her work in organizing an international reception in New York City in 1919, which ultimately led to the founding of the Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA). Among her many books, Women Doctors of the World, reflects most her interest in the advancement of women in medicine on a global front.
The Lovejoy/Jubilee Fellowship provides funding of up to 500 CHF to association members for the purpose of attending the triennial MWIA international congress.
Criteria:
- Applications should be submitted no later than 9 months prior to the planned date of the international Congress
- The fund will be awarded on the strength of the personal written statement.
- A maximum of 2 awardees per triennial congress should be funded- taking into account diversity and equity principles.
- Funding can include air travel (booked at least 4 months in advance) and shared accommodations. Cost of visas will not be covered.
- Financial need should be demonstrated through a personal written statement.
- It is only possible to apply for the Lovejoy/Jubilee Fellowship twice.
- Submission of scientific abstract for the triennial international MWIA congress
- Commitment to provide volunteer service during the MWIA Congress and be an ambassador for MWIA throughout the next triennium.
